The city of Puerto Peñasco (or Rocky Point, as it is commonly known) has a well-earned reputation for its beautiful beaches, abundant sunshine, and world-class dining and recreation options. What is less well known is the commitment of local businesses to ensure that this city is a better place for everyone.
This week, Las Palomas Beach & Golf Resort announced a new partnership with 1MISSION, its official charity partner, that will give impoverished families in Rocky Point access to safe, secure housing.
The resort will donate 5% of each online booking when guests reserve their stay at 1MISSION.org/las-palomas using the code “BUILD.” Guests will also be offered discounts on resort dining, spa, and entertainment options when making a donation of $20, $50, or $100 to 1MISSION at the front desk. And owners of condos at Las Palomas are also invited to voluntarily participate by donating a portion of their booking fees to support the cause.
“As companies, we must worry about our city. We are not outsiders – this is our home,” said Héctor Vázquez, General Manager of Las Palomas. “The people who work with us live here. So naturally we join 1MISSION in building a better community.”
By participating in our community development program, local families will earn houses by serving their communities through initiatives like community gardens, health programs, and job skills training. Upon completion of the program, they will receive a house that they own, debt free.
“Las Palomas is the premier resort in Rocky Point,” said Nate Hughes, our VP of Partnerships. “It means the world to us that they would recognize the value that 1MISSION brings to the community and choose to partner with us to make a difference locally. Thank you to the partners, condo owners, and Las Palomas staff for investing in bringing safe and secure housing to the people of this city.”
