1MISSION’s Bikes Fight Poverty Charity Bike Ride in Mexico
1MISSION’s Bikes Fight Poverty is a series of fundraising events that offer unique experiences for people of all ages. Whether you’re an avid cyclist looking for a challenge, or you just want added incentive to hop on the bike, we’ve got a ride for you.
We organize this charity bike ride to Mexico for one reason: to give families in poverty access to safe, secure housing.
Let’s do this!

We’re excited to announce that 1MISSION’s Bikes Fight Poverty ride will look a little different this year. We’re riding 65 miles from the Mexican border town of Sonoyta all the way to Las Palomas Beach and Golf Resort in Puerto Peñasco. At the finish, we’ll have a fiesta!
Then, over the next day and a half—along with your family and friends—we’ll work side-by-side with local families, building their houses and seeing firsthand the difference you have made in the community!
Registration closes March 17, 2023
We’ll launch this year’s charity bike ride from the Mexican border town of Sonoyta on Saturday morning, April 22, and will ride all the way to Las Palomas Beach and Golf Resort in Puerto Peñasco. Each rider will be free to move at a pace that is comfortable to them.
Around the halfway point, we’ll provide an aid station where you can refuel before continuing on to the finish line. 1MISSION will also provide roaming medics and support and gear (SAG) vehicles. Local and national police will be on hand throughout the day to ensure a safe, well-supported ride.
Over the next day and a half, you’re invited to be part of a special build trip in Puerto Peñasco, connecting you to the mission that unites us: giving families in poverty access to safe, secure housing.
- Official event T-shirt
- SAG backpack
- Roaming medics and SAG vehicles, as well as local and national police

By registering for Border to Beach to Build and launching a 1MISSION fundraising campaign, you’re making a lasting difference in the lives of families seeking access to safe, secure housing. That’s why we do what we do.
To connect you more closely to this mission—and to see firsthand the difference we’re making together—you will be invited to stay in Puerto Peñasco for a day and a half after the ride to help build a house alongside a family that has earned it. You’re also welcome to arrive on Friday, to make launch morning a breeze!
The build trip is optional, but is offered exclusively to the Bikes Fight Poverty community at a discounted rate. You’ll receive an email with the subject line “Bikes Fight Poverty Event Confirmation” once you register for the ride, and this email will contain build trip registration information.
Food, water, medical insurance, and all of the tools and materials needed to build the house are included as part of your build trip registration. There is a nominal fee for RV and bunkhouse accommodations at 1MISSION’s basecamp in Puerto Peñasco, and reservations are required. There is unlimited, free space available for tenting.
Border to Beach to Build is a fundraising event. We ride to give families in poverty access to safe, secure housing. Registration fees help to cover event expenses, while your personal fundraising campaign helps put more families in houses of their own.
